Associated Press: Border Arrests Plunge, Deportation Arrests Soar

The Associated Press reports on statistics recently provided by DHS for fiscal year 2017. Border Patrol arrests fell 25 percent in FY2017 in comparison with FY2016, while ICE arrests increased by 25 percent in the same period. According to the Associated Press, the statistics “show that deportation officers are taking Trump’s call for an immigration crackdown to heart, even without the funding increase that the president has sought from Congress for more hiring.” Find this story and more in AILA’s daily immigration news clips.
